Description of High purity 99.5% Lithium Bromide CAS:7550-35-8

White crystals with a slightly bitter taste. Hygroscopic. Loses one molecule of water of crystallization at 44°C and becomes anhydrous at 160°C. Easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline to litmus paper. Hot concentrated solutions can dissolve cellulose.

 

Characteristics:

* Appearance: White cubic crystals or granular powder.

* Melting Point: 550°C

* Boiling Point: 1265°C

* Relative Density: 3.464 (25°C)

* Solubility: Easily soluble in water, solubility: 254g/100ml water (90°C); soluble in ethanol; slightly soluble in pyridine; soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, and ethylene glycol.

* Solubility: 61 g/100 mL (25°C)

 

Applications:It is an efficient water vapor absorbent and air humidity regulator. Widely used in the refrigeration industry as an absorption refrigerant, and in the organic industry as a hydrogen chloride scavenger and organic fiber swelling agent. Used in medicine as a hypnotic and sedative. Employed in the battery industry as an electrolyte for high-energy batteries and micro-batteries. Also used in the photographic industry and in analytical chemistry. Can also serve as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
